Hello and Welcome to Foam Wedding Flowers by Joanne.
We would love to share our story with you on how we have got to where we are today. Well, the most important thing I can tell you is that hard work REALLY does pay off.
My name is Jo and my passion for flowers started when I was only 12 years old. I worked in Rebecca Hinde’s Florist in Maghull, Liverpool as a Saturday girl until I was 15 years old. This was when I realised that floristry was the career path for me. My boss kept me on full time and I started Hugh Baired College where I gained my City & Guilds in floristry part I, II and III. All passed with credits and distinctions.
As the years past it was my turn to start a family. As I became a mum to my 2 lovely daughters Gemma and Georgia I decided it was time to leave my floristry for a while. I had various part-time jobs while juggling family life where I gained multiple skills which I now use in running my very own business!
So, I bet your wondering how I got back into my floristry?
My best friend Louise was getting married back in 2008 and kindly asked me to do her wedding flowers. I jumped at the chance! My partner John who I met just a year just a year before Louise’s wedding was amazed by the bouquets and buttonholes I had created. He asked ” Why are you working as an estate agent when you can do this?!” It was a lightbulb moment. My girls were older and it was the perfect timing for me to not only getting back to doing what I was good at but most importantly what I loved to do.
So here I am, owning my own business. Started off in my conservatory at home doing wedding with only fresh flowers to building my very own workshop in my back garden and this is when there seemed to be more and more requests for artificial wedding flowers. I took the idea and ran with it and it landed me in a bit of hot water because ” I had created a monster”. There was no longer enough storage so my partner john by chance visited Sefton Meadows Garden Centre and noticed a derelict porta cabin. I opened up in January 2015. My business took off more than I could of ever imagined. I even had couples from London and Scotland coming to stay in Liverpool just to visit me and order their wedding flowers from me. Within 12 months I knew I couldn’t possibly work in the small space I had for much longer. Again, by chance I came across a shop which was being refurbished and for let. After 6 months in January 2017 we opened our doors to our beautiful shop on Liverpool Road North in Maghull, Liverpool. Where I now have my daughter Georgia working with me full time.
Our passion for our job grows everyday and we thank all of our lovely customers and brides to be for making our fantastic business what the success it is today.
